Ischemic Optic Neuropathy in a Young Case with C677T Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Mutation

A 24-year-old female patient presented with visual loss in her left eye was evaluated. Visual acuity of her left eye was count fingers at 10 cm. Fundus examination revealed that small physiologic cup in the right eye and disk edema in the left eye. Further laboratory evaluation yielded C677T methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase mutation. Thrombophilic risk factors should be assessed in the young nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy patients.
