PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY FOR POSTOPERATIVE ENDOPHTHALMITIS

Şişli Etfal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Göz Kliniği Puppose: To evaluate the role of pars plana vitrectomy for post operative endophthalmitis.
Methods: We evaluated 17 eyes of 17 patient who undergone pars plana vitrectomy for post operative endophthalmitis, eleven patient undergone primary vitrectomy, 6 patient had medical treatment and vitrectomy. Post-operative follow up was approximotely 7 (2-36) months.
Results: Ethiologic microorganizm was discovered from taken material only in 4 (%23.57) patients, in 6 (% 35.3) patients visual acuity did get better, in 10 (%58.99) patients there was no change, in 1 (%5.9) patient vision was worse and 6 (%35.3) patients got ambulatory vision.
Conclusion: Early diagnosis, medical treatment and pars plana vitrectomy have vital importance in cases with endophtalmitis.
