Ankara Numune Hast. 3. Göz Kliniği PURPOSE : The authors wanted to present two patients with posterior uveitis associated with bilateral optic disc neovascularisation without venous occlusion, which regressed with the resolution of the inflammation.
METHOD : In addition to ophthalmological and systemic evaluation, color Doppler imaging (GDI) was performed in order to investigate alterations in retrobulbar circulation.
RESULTS : The patients were diagnosed as Behçet's disease and idiopathic retinal vasculitis. In both cases, the optic disc neovascularisation without retinal ischemia regressed in response to topical and systemic steroid therapy, in addition to immunosuppresant treatment i a one patient. GDI revealed some changes in the indices of ophthalmic, central retinal and posterior ciliary arteries which may be attributed to inflammation.
CONCLUSION: The regression of optic disc neovascularisation was believed to be due to resolution of inflammation.
Keywords : Behçet's disease, idiopathic retinal vasculitis, neovascularisation, color Doppler imaging
