Optical Coherence Tomography Do we Benefit Enough From Different Systems?
Filiz AFRASHI
M.D. Professor, Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Izmir/TURKEY Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a rapid non-contact method that allows invivo imaging of the retina, optic nerve head and retinal nerve fibre layer. OCT has proven to be a useful ancillary tool for assessing retinal disease because of its capability to provide cross-sectional images of the retina, and also to perform quantitative analysis of retinal morphology. The increased use of OCT has dramatically affected diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in recent years. OCT techniques have evolved from the initial time-domain OCT to spectral-domain OCT. There are many different OCT devices commercially available. These systems have different software or hardware. Keywords : Imaging, optical coherence tomography, retina
