Jukstafoveal telengiectasia is characterized by ectasia and incompotence of retinal capillaries around the fovea. Telengiectasias were classified into different groups by the authors; however, with the common usage of optical coherens tomography, telengiectasias were divided into two broad groups: aneurismal telengiectasia (idiopathic macular telengiectasia type 1) and perifoveal telengiectasias (idiopathic macular telengiectasia type 2). Although neurodegeneration and dysfunction of Muller cells are thought to be responsible from the pathogenesis of disease, the exact pathogenesis remains still unclear. Group 1 is characterized by unilateral parafoveal retinal telengiectasias associated with lipid exudation and macular edema; while type 2 is a bilateral disease characterized by a lack of lipid exudation, hyperplasia of the retinal pigment epithelium, foveal atrophy and subretinal neovascularization. The options for the treatment of this situation included laser photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy, intravitreal steroid or anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents which are not approved with prospective, non-randomized studies. Keywords : Jukstafoveal telengiectasia, pathogenesis, clinical findings, treatment
