Terson Syndrome

M.D. Asistant, Ulucanlar Eye Training and Research Hospital, Ankara/TURKEY Terson Syndrome occurring after intracranial hemorrhage, has an important place in the posterior segment hemorrhages not associated with diabetes and ocular trauma. In adults, traumatic intracranial hemorrhage, neurological symptoms and high mortality risk are known to be closely associated with Terson Syndrome. In addition, case reports and clinical studies revealed that lesser known association of disease and helped us understand the pathophysiology. By French Ophthalmologist Albert Terson 100 years ago defined Terson Syndrome is suitable with actual form generally but it has been shown occur without trauma or intracranial hemorrhage and the borders of disease has moved beyond. We aimed this article explaining pathophysiology of disease that occurs intracranial and intraocular hemorrhage as well as giving information about proper management of disease when consider possibility of permanent visual loss.
