S.S.K. Ankara Hastanesi 2. Göz Kliniği Idiopathic macular holes are an important cause of poor vision in the elderly. Decreased visual function is mainly due to the absence of photoreceptors within the central retinal defect. Traditionally, they have been thought to be an untreatable disease. Investigators have changed their opinions since the first report of closure of macular holes with vitrectomy and gas tamponade.
