PEROPERATIVE COMPLICATIONS AND POSTOPERATIVE EARLY RESULTS IN PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY

Ç.Ü.T.F. Göz Has. ABD. We evaluated the etiology, postoperative findinge, peropcrative and, postoperative early complications of pars plana vitrectomy in 64 eyes of 63 cases at Çukurova University Medical Faculty Ophthalmology Department Retina-Vitreous Unit between June 14-May 15. The sudy group consisted of 43 male, 20 female aged 4-84 (3.4±20.3).Postoperative follow up period ranged from 1 to 11 months (2.6±2.4).35 (54.7%) cases were diagnosed as intravitral hemorrhage, 15 (23.4%) as cndophthalmitis, 4 (6.3%) as prolifcrativc vitrcorctinopathy or giant tear retinal detachment, 4 (6.3%) as uvcilis, 4 (6.3%) as lens luxation into vitreous, 2 (3,1 %) intraocular foreign body. Peropcrative complications were corncal edema in 11 (17.2%), intravitrcal hemorrhage in 6 (9.4%), retinal tears in 4 (6.3%), cataract in 2 (3.1%) cases, and choroidal detachment in 1 (1.6%) case. Postoperative early period complications were intravitrcal hemorrhage in 9 (14.0%), retinal detachment in 6 (9.3%), cataract in 3 (4.7%), phtisis bulbi in 2 (3.1%) cases, raised intraocular pressure in 1 (1.6%)andendophthalmitisin 1 (1.6%) case.
