Prognosis In Patient With Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fak. Göz Hast AD. In this study, a total of 162 eyes including 81 patients with age-related macular degeneration, who were followed by the Department of Retina of Cerrahpaşa Medical School, were examined. Median age was 68.73 and the mean follow-up period was 5.2 years. 44 eyes of 162 showed a decrease on Snellen visual acuity in the follow up period (27.16%), whereas 118 eyes showed no significant decrease on visual acuity at snellen chart. Of 41 cases with refractive errors, 33(15 dry + 18 wet form) had hypermetropia and 8 (3 dry + 5 wet) had myopia.
