PERIPHERAL RETINAL NEOVASCULARIZATIONS

Ankara Üniv. Tıp Fak. Göz Hastalıkları AD. Peripheral retinal neovascularization (PRN) is the new vessel growth which is present peripheral to the major vascular arcades. It may be with a variety of ocular and/or systemic diseases. The most common causes of the PRN are retinal vascular diseases with ischemia and inflammatory diseases with possible ischemia. The prototype of PRN is sickle cell disease. In this article clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of the diseases which cause PRN are discussed.
