This study was performed to identify clinical characteristics and risk factors for retinal vein occlusions. Overall mean age was 56±10.7 in the whole retinal vein occlusions. Average age was 59.6 in the Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) group, 60.4 in the Hemicentral Retinal Vein Occlusion (HRVO) group and 54.5 in the Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO) group. 10.2% of CRVOs were 40 years old or less. 52.3% of BRVOs were female. There were no statistically significant difference among these groups about sex and age distrubition. History of systemic hypertention, presence of diabetes mellitus , primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), increased serum levels of cholesterol and triglycerid and increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate were seen as most common associated risk factors in our study group. There was no statistically significant differences among retinal vein occlusion groups for these risk factors. In the young adults group systemic problems were seen with a lower ratio.
