INTRAVITREAL CLINDAMYCIN AND TRIAMCINOLON ACETONIDE FOR RECURRENT OCULAR TOXOPLASMOSIS
Nilüfer BERKER1, Emel SOYKAN1, Seyhan S. ÖZKAN1, Yasemin ÖZDAMAR1
SSK Ankara Göz Hastalıkları Merkezi ve Göz Bankası Two intravitreal injections of clindamycin and triamcinolon acetonide were performed in a case with ocular toxoplasmosis that was resistant to systemic therapy. The injections provided a better control of inflammation and a decrease in the recurrence rate. The lens opacities increased as a complication of this procedure, and cataract extraction with phacoemulsification was performed in the third month.
Intravitreal injections of clindamycin and triamcinolon acetonide may offer an additional or an alternative treatment strategy in patients with recurrent ocular toxoplasmosis.
