Retinal Hemangiomas
Özlem YENİCE1, Sezen ÇAKIR1
Marmara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları AD., İstanbul Purpose: Retinal hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors of retina without any neoplastic characteristics. They have two clinical forms as capillary and cavernous hemangiomas. The other form which is racemous hemangioma is considered to be an A-V malformation rather than being a true hemangioma . The diagnosis is made by fundus examination with the help of fluorescein angiography. Radiological investigations are used in case of systemic involvement. Treatment is rather applied in capillary form depending on its size and localization. New articles are seen in literature those including the long-term results of classical methods (laser and cryotherapy) as well as usage of new (photodynamic therapy and systemic vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors) therapies. Keywords : Retinal hemangiomas, clinic treatment.
