We describe a case of early pseudomonas aeruginosa-endophthalmitis following intravitreal triamcinolone injection for the treatment of diabetic macular edema refractory to grid laser photocoagulation. The eye had to be eviscerated in spite of early treatment with intravitreal antibiotics to which the organism is sensitive. We suggest that the procedure should be performed under totally sterile conditions and the eye should be padded for a day to prevent such a dreadful complication. Keywords : Diabetic macular edema, intravitreal triamcinolone, pseudomonas endophthalmitis
